Sallie Culy’s new book Hello To Everybody tells a story of someone who is deeply curious about the world, and who loves walking the familiar streets of central Wellington greeting her wide network of friends. Sallie has received no formal training in art, but instead she uses her own shapes, lines and colour to show what interests and delights her.
I love visiting all my friends around town. I like walking around saying hi and hello to all my different friends, seeing what they’re up to. All my family live here, and I like living close to the sea. I like going to the skatepark and seeing all the skaters. Everyone’s very friendly to me. I draw people, and musicians that I love. I like to draw the things that make me happy. It makes me feel a lot of joy, and it helps people be friends together.
